Ras Al Khaimah Plans More Hospitals

Sunday, 2, November 2008 Category: News

Plans are under way to build more hospitals and health centres in Ras Al Khaimah, including the remote areas, said Minister of Health Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qutami during a meeting in Dubai with officials from the RAK Medical District.

The minister did not specify the number of new hospitals and health centres.

The minister stressed that the existing hospitals and healthcare centres would also be upgraded and equipped with modern medical equipments, more medical professionals, including doctors, nurses and health assistants in order to match the international standards.

“Under the new medical strategic plan, the ministry is keen on modernising and improving health services in all the medical and health institutions in the UAE,” Al Qutami said.

Dr Mahmoud Al Fakri, Executive Director of Health Services in RAK Medical District, who attended the meeting, said currently there is shortage of beds, medical professionals and modern facilities in hospitals and health centres in the emirate.

Three big hospitals in Ras Al Khaimah are being built at a cost of Dh700 million and they would be completed by 2010.
