The Ministry of Health formed a team from all federal, local and private health authorities in the UAE to put and set up a national strategy for non-infectious diseases.
The team members held a meeting in the ministry of health premises in Dubai to review the first draft of the general and national strategic plans.
The team discussed the guideline strategies and comprehensive visions of dealing with diseases as well as the possibilities of reducing the treatment costs and importance of early screenings in addition to the ways of identifying diagnosis through medical examination. The team discussed the roles and responsibilities of federal, local and private authorities as well as the financial and human resources to implement the strategy in case of its approval by the competent authorities.
Dr. Mahmoud Fikri, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Policies at the Ministry of Health, said: "The committee meeting includes a number of experts from several health authorities and academic institutes to discuss the applied research and studies in the field of infectious diseases which have been already implemented in the UAE. A subcommittee has been formed to set up a final draft of the national infectious disease strategy.
It is expected that the final draft national strategy will be reviewed by the Ministerial Council for Services.
