The central administration for dental medicine at the ministry of health organized a free awareness day for dental and oral health in cooperation with Dubai Medical District and Al Baraha Hospital in Modhesh City, Dubai World Trade Center in Dubai.

The awareness activity comes as part of the ministry’s participation in societal activities to raise health awareness among all community members and encourage individuals to follow correct health behaviors. The oral and dental health day was implemented by dentistry doctors in Al Baraha Hospital to introduce the community members with the oral and dentistry correct and safety methods.

The doctors and technicians provided assistance for the audience and gave a free checkup for children in addition to brochures and gifts about dental health in modhesh city.

Additionally, health guidelines and advices were provided for children and their families whereas the organizing committee answered the queries about dental and oral health as well as ways of preventing unhealthy habits.
Dr. Aisha Sultan Al Suwaidi, Acting Director of Dentistry Department at the Ministry of Health, said: “The activity is a basic requirement for intern doctors therefore we always encourage doctors to participate in similar health awareness campaigns and free checkups”.

Furthermore, Dr. Maymoona Abdul Rahim, head of the team and a pediatric dentist in Al Baraha Hospital, said: “We distributed a survey on the children parents to increase their awareness of dental care according to their education standard, age, nationals and cavity percentage in each category”.

She also emphasized that about 300 visitors participated in modhesh city today while free tooth brushes, tooth pastes and awareness brochures about ways of avoiding dangers due to cavities were distributed. The doctors also gave advices to children on the ways of caring of their teeth and maintaining oral health as well as avoiding the bad behaviors and habits.

Furthermore, Ahlam Saleh, Head of Health Education Section in Al Baraha Hospital, stated that protection from oral and dental diseases requires parents to avoid the factors for causing these pains. The hospital put a preventive program for children in cooperation with dentists beginning from maintaining their oral health at home and the necessity of brushing their teeth after every meal by using tooth brushes and dental floss. Neglecting such guidelines would lead to tooth decays and gum infections.
