Ministry of Health Forms Committee to Establish UAE Medical Board
His Excellency Dr. Hanif Hassan Ali Al Qassim, UAE Minister of Health, issued a ministerial decision to form a scientific higher committee for establishing a UAE medical board under the chairmanship of Dr. Mohammed Youssif Hassan Bany Yas, Assistant Director for Medical Sciences and Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences in UAEU.

The decision determined the specializations of the committee to set up the standards of the UAE medical board and identify the required medical major programs of the UAE medical board, years of study as well as theoretical and vocational training, requirements of the UAE medical board, specifications of the doctors who will supervise the programs, recommendations of the established program, and types of entrance and final exams.

The decision stated the necessity of selecting the organization that will provide the UAE medical board certificate as well as the requirements and standards of establishing the UAE medical board in addition to the recommendations of the board and its international accreditation and recognition. The assigned committee will resume its duties in six months.

It is noted that the committee held its first meeting in the new location in Dubai where it reviewed the assignment strategies and timeline for implementing the requested tasks and responsibilities.

The committee includes Dr. Hussam Hamdy, Acting Director of Sharjah University for Medical Colleges and Health Affairs, Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Mohamed Jallal Al Deen, Dean of the Medical College for Girls, Dr. Khalil Ibrahim, Director of Continuous Medical Learning in DHA, Dubai, Dr. Yasser Al Nuaimi, Director of RAK Medical District, Ministry of Health, and Dr. Hatem Faraj Al Aamri, Chief of Continuous Medical Education in HAAD, Abu Dhabi.
